BINH MINH MAI is hiring a head chef for their restaurant in Hamilton, ON, a permanent, full-time, on-site position paying $26.00 per hour, 40 hours per week. The kitchen is fast-paced with wet, hot, cold, and noisy conditions, and a criminal record check is required.
Responsibilities
- Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
- Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
- Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
- Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
- Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods, specializing in Vietnamese cuisine
Requirements
- Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience
- 3 to less than 5 years of experience
- Cook Trade Certification, Safe Food Handling certificate, WHMIS Certificate, and Food Safety Certificate
- Criminal record check required
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen with tight deadlines
- Strong leadership skills
- Vietnamese language skills considered an asset
